Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about visiting Eglinton Dental Care. If your question isn't answered here, we're always happy to help — just get in touch.
New patients & appointments
Are you accepting new patients?expand_more
Yes — we warmly welcome new patients of all ages, from toddlers to grandparents. Simply call us or use our online contact form to book your first visit.
What happens at my first appointment?expand_more
We'll review your medical and dental history, carry out a thorough examination (including any necessary X-rays), discuss any concerns you have, and recommend a personalised plan. There's never any pressure — just clear, honest advice.
How often should I visit the dentist?expand_more
For most people, a check-up and clean every six months is ideal. We'll tailor your recall interval to your individual needs and risk of decay or gum disease.
Do you see children?expand_more
Absolutely. We love treating kids and make every visit fun and gentle. Eligible children may also be bulk-billed under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).
Fees, health funds & payment
Do you accept private health funds?expand_more
Yes. We can process most private health-fund rebates on the spot, so you only pay any gap. Just bring your health-fund card to your appointment.
How much will my treatment cost?expand_more
Costs depend on your individual needs. We always provide a clear estimate and explain your options before starting any treatment, so there are no surprises.
Do you offer payment plans?expand_more
We aim to make dental care accessible and can discuss available payment options for larger treatment plans at your appointment. Please ask our friendly front-office team.
What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)?expand_more
The CDBS is a Medicare program that provides eligible children aged 2–17 with a capped amount of dental care over two years. We can check your child's eligibility and bulk-bill where applicable.
Nervous patients & comfort
I'm anxious about the dentist — can you help?expand_more
You're not alone, and we understand completely. Our team is gentle and patient, and we offer sedation options including happy gas and sleep dentistry to help you feel calm and comfortable.
Does treatment hurt?expand_more
We prioritise your comfort and use effective local anaesthetic so procedures are as pain-free as possible. Let us know your concerns and we'll go at your pace.
Emergencies
Do you see dental emergencies?expand_more
Yes. We keep appointments aside each day for emergencies and aim to see urgent cases the same day. Call us as early as possible and we'll give you first-aid advice and arrange to see you quickly.
What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?expand_more
Hold the tooth by the crown (not the root), keep it moist in milk or inside your cheek, don't scrub it, and call us immediately. Acting fast gives the best chance of saving it.
